a week in Italy

little rooms
so sparse they echo
cold marble tile floors
whitely austere
yet so cluttered with distraction
travel guides and atlases, Italian dictionaries and recycling instructions....
all left from who was here before...

it feels as if a day since leaving home
(actually it has been a whole week of  'living in Italy'?!!?)
and home feels so remote as if  "is there 'home'?"

in the morning the church bells sing and some rooster down the road wakes
to church for morning prayer
(which is an even shorter walk than to the campus)

then home to open shutters to let in the light

then time for due cappuccini

just a few things had to be done to truly make this space 'home'

a simple re-arrangement of the furniture

making a nice sitting place in the morning sun




wifi for the apartment...
and a guitar for the background music to my little life

so after the space is arranged....
the first of traveling by car begins.... to a couple of the near by towns....

making our way to Montebelluna to Esse Music Warehouse

the most extravagant music store I have ever seen

floors and rooms of drums and lights and electrics and acoustics and brightly colored ukelees

even the bathroom and stairwell was amazing

standing outside our gate looking towards the church

and at the day's end 

just like back at home

back to church for 6:30 Mass....

 vs 5:00 at 'home'
just a handful of women
but two priests concelebrate?!?
and it is so cold....
